Frequently asked questions
How long before travel should I have my vaccinations?
Ideally start 4–6 weeks before departure. Multi-dose courses such as rabies and combined hepatitis A + B need at least 5 weeks, and hepatitis B is given on standard or accelerated schedules — ask when you book. Typhoid should be given at least 2 weeks before travel, the yellow fever certificate becomes valid 10 days after vaccination, and MenACWY should be given at least 10 days (ideally 2 weeks) before Hajj or Umrah.
Are you a registered yellow fever vaccination centre?
Yes. Our Holborn branch is a registered Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre. The £99 fee includes the Stamaril vaccine and the International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis. Under current WHO rules, a single dose is valid for life for most travellers. Please bring your passport to the appointment.
Do you offer Japanese encephalitis vaccination?
Japanese encephalitis is not currently bookable online. Please call 020 8106 7084 to ask about availability.
Can children have travel vaccinations?
Minimum ages vary by vaccine: hepatitis A from 12 months, typhoid injection from 2 years (oral capsules from 5 years), yellow fever from 9 months and dengue from 4 years. Our online hepatitis B and combined hepatitis A + B services are for adults aged 18 and over — please call us about children's courses. The pharmacist confirms suitability at your appointment.
Which vaccination do I need for Hajj or Umrah?
Saudi Arabia requires a meningococcal ACWY vaccination certificate for Hajj and Umrah. Our £60 service includes the certificate. Have the vaccination at least 10 days before travel. It does not cover meningitis group B, which is available as a separate service.
Do I pay before or after my appointment?
Payment is taken online when you book the service, and you then call 020 8106 7084 to arrange a convenient appointment. If you are unsure what you need, call first and we will advise you before you pay.
