Blister pack service
Support with organising your regular medicines, prepared with care by the Ways Pharmacy Nottingham team. Our Monitored Dosage System service is available following an individual medicines assessment.
From 1 October 2026, our private blister pack service costs £5 per month, paid in advance. The annual fee is £60. Please contact us at least one month before you would like the service to start.
Pay up to December
Only available for service start months from January to November. Pay upfront for every month from your agreed start month through December, inclusive.
For example, in a year when you start in September, September–December is 4 months: 4 × £5 = £20. The following January–December year costs £60.
December starts do not use this payment option. Contact the team to arrange the next annual service period.
12 months of support
Pay for the next calendar year in advance, with annual renewal arranged in December.
Contact the pharmacy one to two months before your current service period ends to arrange payment and help avoid a break in service.
The team will confirm your payment and renewal arrangements when you sign the service agreement.
October–December trial: £15 for 3 months
The three-month trial covers October to December 2026 at the same £5 monthly rate. Participation depends on your agreed start date, assessment and the one-month booking notice. Speak to the team to confirm the period available to you.

What is not included in the monthly fee?
Acute or urgent prescriptions, medicines prescribed after your monthly blister pack has been prepared, and additional deliveries are not included.
You are responsible for arranging collection or delivery of any acute or additional prescriptions. Additional delivery charges may apply if you request delivery.
Which medicines can go in a blister pack?
Only regular prescribed medicines that the pharmacist considers suitable will be included. Medicines sensitive to moisture, medicines taken only when required, refrigerated medicines, liquids, creams, inhalers, eye drops and medicines that need their original packaging may need to be supplied separately.
We cannot guarantee a particular manufacturer or brand unless specified by your prescriber or supported by a documented clinical need.
What should I tell the pharmacy about changes?
Please tell us promptly about any medication changes, hospital admissions or discharges, and changes made by your GP or another healthcare professional.
If your medicines change after a pack has been prepared, it may need to be remade. There may be a delay while the new medication is obtained.
How do we keep the service suitable and safe?
Check your medicines when you receive them and contact the pharmacy immediately if you believe there is an error. Store your medicines safely and use them only as directed.
The pharmacist assesses whether this service is appropriate for you and reviews its ongoing suitability. We may decline or discontinue the service if it is not clinically appropriate or cannot be provided safely, and may review or amend the arrangements to support patient safety.

How do I start using the blister pack service?
Call 0115 925 5584 or visit the Nottingham pharmacy at least one month in advance. The team will arrange a Medicines Compliance Assessment and confirm suitable support before you sign the service agreement and arrange payment. Do I need to book, or can I just walk in?
Walk in. Prescriptions, Pharmacy First consultations, blood pressure checks and medicines advice are all available without an appointment during opening hours. If you are making a special journey for a particular service, call 0115 925 5584 first so we can make sure a pharmacist is free. Blister packs require at least one month’s advance booking and an assessment. Pharmacy First and NHS blood pressure checks can also be booked online through Patient Access.
How do I make Ways Pharmacy my nominated pharmacy?
Three ways: ask us in store or on the phone, set it yourself in the NHS App under prescriptions, or ask your GP surgery to nominate Ways Pharmacy, 24 Chilwell Road, Beeston. You can change it again at any time.
What is Pharmacy First and does it cost anything?
Pharmacy First lets a pharmacist assess and, where clinically appropriate, treat seven common conditions without a GP appointment: sore throat, earache, sinusitis, infected insect bites, impetigo, shingles and uncomplicated urinary tract infection in women aged 16 to 64 who are not pregnant or breastfeeding. The consultation is free on the NHS; normal NHS prescription charges apply to any medicine supplied unless you are exempt.
Can I get a free blood pressure check?
Yes, if you are 40 or over and do not already have a diagnosis of high blood pressure. It takes a few minutes, it is free, and if the reading needs confirming we can fit a 24-hour monitor or refer you to your GP.
