Who it is for
- People with tiredness, low energy or other symptoms who want to rule out a common vitamin deficiency
- People on a plant-based diet, for whom vitamin B12 is particularly important
- People in the UK with limited sun exposure, especially in autumn and winter, who want to check their vitamin D
- People taking vitamin supplements who want to confirm their levels are in range
Not suitable for: acutely unwell people who need urgent medical assessment; use as a substitute for diagnostic assessment by a doctor.
What is measured
- Vitamin D (25-OH) — 25-hydroxyvitamin D, the marker used to assess whether your vitamin D stores are deficient, insufficient or adequate. Vitamin D helps keep bones, teeth and muscles healthy.
- Vitamin B12 — needed to make healthy red blood cells and keep the nervous system working properly.
- Folate — a B vitamin that works with vitamin B12 to make healthy red blood cells.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to fast before this test?
No. You can eat and drink as normal before your sample. Take your regular medications as usual unless your GP has advised otherwise.
How long do results take?
Results are typically returned 3 to 5 working days after your sample is received. You will receive a written report showing each level against its reference range.
What if a result is low?
A low result does not diagnose a condition on its own. The pharmacist will explain what your levels mean, discuss whether supplementation may be appropriate, and recommend GP follow-up if needed.
Can I do this test at home or by post?
No. This test is available in store only: attend our Holborn pharmacy, where a trained phlebotomist takes your sample.
When to seek further advice
This test does not diagnose a condition. Reference ranges are provided with your report; discuss your results with a clinician, and if a result is abnormal, follow it up with your GP. Seek prompt medical advice if you feel acutely unwell.
This is a private health screening service. Results are interpretive and do not replace clinical diagnosis by a GP or specialist. Abnormal results should be followed up with your GP.
