Frequently asked questions

How many Strepsils Menthol lozenges can I take a day?

For adults, the elderly and children aged 12 and over, dissolve one lozenge slowly in the mouth every 2 to 3 hours, up to a maximum of 12 lozenges a day. Follow the pack instructions for younger children and do not exceed the stated dose.

What does the menthol do?

The two antiseptics relieve the sore throat, while the menthol adds a cooling sensation that many people find soothing and that can give a clearer feeling in the nose and throat. The menthol does not change the antiseptic action.

Are Strepsils safe in pregnancy?

If you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding, speak to your pharmacist or doctor before using these lozenges so they can advise whether they are suitable for you.

Can children use Strepsils Menthol?

Strepsils Menthol lozenges can be used by children aged 6 and over, following the dose on the pack. They are not suitable for children under 6 because of the risk of choking.

Can I use these if I am allergic to aspirin?

People who are allergic to aspirin may be more likely to have an allergic reaction. If you are allergic to aspirin or to menthol, check with your pharmacist before use.
