Frequently asked questions
When is the flu jab available?
Our flu vaccination service runs each flu season, from 1 September to 31 March. The 2025/26 season has ended — please call 020 8106 7084 to ask about the next season.
Who can have the private flu jab?
The private service is for adults aged 18 to 65 and for pregnant women. The pharmacist confirms suitability before vaccination.
Can I have my flu jab free on the NHS?
Yes, if you are aged 65 or over, pregnant, in a clinical risk group, a carer, or a frontline health or social care worker. Eligibility is confirmed in store — and if you have already paid privately, your payment is refunded.
I have an egg allergy — can I still have a flu jab?
Egg allergy is usually not a contraindication to flu vaccination. A cell-based vaccine option (TIVc) is also available at our Holborn branch. Tell the pharmacist about any allergies before your jab.
Who should not have the flu jab?
Anyone who has had a severe allergic reaction to a previous flu vaccine or to any of its ingredients should not be vaccinated. If you have a fever on the day, vaccination is postponed until you are well.
How quickly does the flu jab work?
Protection typically develops over the 2–3 weeks following vaccination. A flu jab is recommended every year, as circulating strains change each season.
