Yunnan Baiyao Aerosol Spray (云南白药气雾剂) is a traditional Chinese herbal topical aerosol used for the external relief of bruises, sprains, soft-tissue injury, muscle ache and joint pain. Supplied as a two-bottle red/white system in a 50g or 60g pack by Ways Pharmacy.

How to use

1. Shake the canister well before each use.
2. Hold the nozzle 5–10 cm from the skin over the affected area.
3. Spray for 3–5 seconds. A light yellow-brown liquid with a herbal aromatic scent is normal.
4. For more painful or acute injury, first apply the red (auxiliary) solution, wait 3 minutes, then apply the white (medicated) solution.
5. Use up to 3 times per day. Do not exceed 3 applications in 24 hours on the same area.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the red bottle and the white bottle?

The white bottle is the main medicated Yunnan Baiyao solution used for routine application on bruises and muscle pain. The red bottle is the auxiliary "insurance" (保险液) solution, applied first for more severe or acute pain — it is intended to enhance the effect of the white solution that follows three minutes later.

Can I use Yunnan Baiyao Spray on broken skin or open wounds?

No. The spray is for external use on intact skin only. Do not apply to open wounds, cuts, burns or weeping skin, and keep it away from the face, eyes, mouth and mucous membranes.

Is this the same formula as the Yunnan Baiyao patches and powder?

It shares the same Yunnan Baiyao herbal heritage and key herbs (notably Panax notoginseng), but the format is different. The spray gives fast surface coverage on bruises and sprains; the patches give sustained skin-contact delivery over several hours; the original Yunnan Baiyao powder is used for cuts and bleeding rather than muscle pain.

How often can I use it in one day?

Three to five spray applications a day on the affected area is typical, with a maximum of three full applications in 24 hours. If pain or swelling persists beyond 7 days, or worsens, stop use and consult a pharmacist or GP.

Can I use it during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?

It is not recommended during pregnancy. If you are breastfeeding or have a medical condition, ask your pharmacist or GP before use.

Is the product imported in original Chinese packaging?

Yes. Ways Pharmacy stocks the spray in its original Chinese-market packaging from Yunnan Baiyao Group. The 50g and 60g presentations follow the manufacturer's standard specification.
