Who it is for
- Men aged 18–65 with gradual thinning on the top of the scalp (hereditary hair loss)
- Men who prefer a fast-drying foam over a liquid solution
Not suitable for: men under 18 or over 65; women (see Regaine for Women); sudden or patchy hair loss, or hair loss after illness/medication — see a doctor first; scalp that is red, inflamed, infected or painful; people with heart conditions should speak to their doctor before use.
How to use
- Read the patient information leaflet before use.
- Ensure hair and scalp are fully dry. Dispense half a capful of foam.
- Massage gently into the affected areas of the scalp with fingertips, morning and evening. Wash hands thoroughly afterwards.
- Use every day — consistency drives results. Do not use more than twice a day; more will not work faster.
Frequently asked questions
How long does Regaine take to work?
Most men need 8 to 16 weeks of continuous twice-daily use before seeing visible results. Some early shedding in the first weeks is normal — it signals old hairs making way for new growth.
What happens if I stop using it?
Minoxidil works only while you use it. If you stop, new regrowth is usually lost within 3 to 4 months and the hair loss process resumes.
Foam or liquid solution — which is better?
Both contain minoxidil 5% and are similarly effective. The foam dries faster, is less likely to irritate (it contains no propylene glycol) and many men find it easier to fit into a routine.
Can I use Regaine with finasteride?
Topical minoxidil and oral finasteride work by different mechanisms and are often used together under medical guidance. Finasteride is prescription-only — speak to our pharmacist or your GP.
Safety and storage
- Always read the patient information leaflet before use.
- For external use on the scalp only. Avoid contact with eyes and broken skin.
- Stop and seek advice if you experience chest pain, rapid heartbeat, faintness, dizziness, or sudden unexplained weight gain.
- Foam is flammable — keep away from naked flames. Store below 25°C, out of reach of children.
