Key facts

Who it is for

• People whose dry eyes feel worst on waking or who wake with gritty, sore eyes
• People who need longer-lasting overnight lubrication than daytime drops provide
• People using daytime Hycosan drops who want overnight protection as well
• People advised to keep the eye surface protected during sleep

Not suitable for: anyone allergic to an ingredient. Do not apply just before driving or using machinery, as it blurs vision. If you have eye pain, discharge, light sensitivity or a possible infection, see an optometrist or GP.

How to use

1. Read the leaflet and wash your hands before use.
2. Use at night, just before sleep, as the ointment can blur vision temporarily.
3. Tilt your head back and gently pull down the lower eyelid.
4. Apply a small (about 5mm) line of ointment along the inside of the lower eyelid.
5. Blink gently to spread it across the eye, then close the eye and go to sleep.

Frequently asked questions

Why does Hycosan Night blur my vision?

The ointment is thicker than drops and coats the eye surface, which temporarily blurs vision. This is why it is used at night before sleep rather than during the day.

Can I use Hycosan Night with daytime eye drops?

Yes. Many people use lubricating drops such as Hycosan Original or Plus during the day and the ointment at night for longer overnight protection. Leave a few minutes between different products.

Can I use Hycosan Night with contact lenses?

Remove contact lenses before applying the ointment and do not sleep in lenses. The ointment is designed for use overnight with lenses out.

How long does the tube last after opening?

Discard the tube 6 months after first opening, even if ointment remains, to keep it safe to use on the eye.
