Who it is for
- Adults and children aged 16 and over with cold or flu symptoms during the day and a blocked nose at night.
- People who want one pack that covers both the day-time and the night-time dose.
Not suitable for: Children under 16. Do not take it if you are allergic to any of the ingredients; if you have severe coronary heart disease, high blood pressure, an overactive thyroid, diabetes, phaeochromocytoma, closed-angle glaucoma or an enlarged prostate; or if you are taking or have taken a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) antidepressant in the last two weeks. Do not take it with any other paracetamol-containing medicine or with other sympathomimetic decongestants. Ask a pharmacist or doctor before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
How to use
- Read the label and Patient Information Leaflet (PIL) before use.
- Swallow the capsules whole with water. Do not chew them.
- During the day, take 2 red and yellow capsules every 4 to 6 hours, up to a maximum of 3 doses.
- At night, take 2 red and blue capsules if needed.
- Do not take more than 8 capsules in any 24 hours, and no more than 6 day capsules in any 24 hours.
- Do not take it for more than 5 days without speaking to a doctor.
Frequently asked questions
How many Lemsip Max Day & Night capsules can I take in 24 hours?
No more than 8 capsules in total in any 24 hours. That is up to 6 day capsules (three doses of two) plus 2 night capsules.
Can children take Lemsip Max Day & Night?
No. It is for adults, the elderly and children aged 16 years and over. Do not give it to anyone under 16.
Do the night capsules contain caffeine?
No. The day capsules contain caffeine 25mg each; the night capsules contain paracetamol and phenylephrine only.
Can I take paracetamol as well?
No. Both the day and the night capsules contain paracetamol 500mg. Do not take anything else containing paracetamol at the same time. Too much paracetamol can cause serious liver damage.
How long can I keep taking it?
Up to 5 days. If your symptoms have not improved by then, or they get worse, speak to a doctor.
Safety and storage
- Contains paracetamol. Do not take any other paracetamol-containing medicine at the same time. If you take too much, talk to a doctor at once even if you feel well, because too much paracetamol can cause delayed, serious liver damage.
- Speak to a pharmacist or doctor before taking it if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Do not store above 25°C. Store in the original package. Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
- Read the PIL. Report suspected side effects through the MHRA Yellow Card scheme.
