Not suitable for: Anyone allergic to benzoyl peroxide or any of the ingredients; people with inflamed spots or larger lumps suggesting more severe acne, scarring from previous acne, or acne on the shoulders, back or chest; children under 12. How to use
- Read the label and Patient Information Leaflet (PIL) before use.
- Wet the area to be treated. Squeeze the gel onto your hands and wash the affected area of the face.

- Start with once daily before bed. After 2–3 days, if the skin tolerates it, increase to twice daily, morning and evening.

- If your acne gets worse or does not improve within 12 weeks, see a pharmacist or doctor.
Frequently asked questions
How is Acnecide Face Wash different from Acnecide Gel?
The face wash is rinsed off after 1–2 minutes, while Acnecide 5% Gel is a leave-on treatment. Do not use the two together, or with any other benzoyl peroxide or acne product, unless a doctor tells you to.
Will it irritate my skin?
A mild burning feeling on first use, and some redness and peeling over the first few days, are expected. Dry skin, redness, peeling and a burning sensation are very common. If you get severe irritation, swelling or blistering, stop using it and speak to a pharmacist or doctor.
Can I go in the sun while using it?
Benzoyl peroxide can make skin more sensitive to sunlight. Avoid sunbeds and prolonged sun exposure and use a sunscreen when needed.
Does it bleach fabric or hair?
Yes, it can bleach hair, towels, clothing and other coloured materials. Rinse well and keep it away from dyed fabrics.
Can I use it if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?
Ask a pharmacist or doctor first. If a doctor recommends it while breastfeeding, do not apply it to the chest area.
How long can I use it for?
Use it as directed and review progress. If your acne has not improved after 12 weeks, or gets worse, see a pharmacist or doctor.
