Frequently asked questions

What is Germolene Dual Action Antiseptic Cream used for?

It is used for minor cuts and grazes, minor burns, blisters, wounds, insect bites, spots and cracked or rough skin. The antiseptic action helps prevent infection while a mild local anaesthetic helps relieve pain and itch.

Does Germolene numb pain?

Yes. Phenol acts as a mild local anaesthetic that can help numb pain and ease the itching and irritation caused by minor skin injuries, alongside the antiseptic action that helps prevent infection.

Is Germolene cream greasy?

No. It is a non-greasy cream that is easy to apply and rubs into the skin, which many people prefer for everyday first aid.

Can I put Germolene on an insect bite?

Yes. It can be applied to insect bites to help cleanse the area, guard against infection and soothe the discomfort. If a bite becomes increasingly red, swollen or painful, seek advice from your pharmacist or GP.

How should I store Germolene cream?

Do not store above 25 degrees C. Keep it away from where children can reach it and do not use after the expiry date on the pack.
