Who it is for
- Anyone who wants to check at home whether a cough, fever or sore throat is more likely to be Covid-19 or flu.
- Households wanting a few tests on hand for the winter respiratory season.
- Adults swabbing children or others: the instructions advise wearing a face mask and steadying a young child's head.
Not suitable for: Do not collect a nasal swab if the inside of the nose is damaged or bleeding. This is a screening aid, not a diagnosis: a negative result does not rule out infection, and a positive result needs to be considered alongside your symptoms and, where appropriate, confirmed by a healthcare professional. Do not use a test if the pouch is damaged or the kit is past its expiry date.
How to use
- Read the instructions for use supplied in the box before you start.
- Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, then place the buffer tube in the holder on the box.
- Insert the swab about 2cm into one nostril and rub it 5 to 10 times against the inside of the nostril, then repeat in the other nostril with the same swab.
- Place the swab in the buffer tube, stir and squeeze as directed, then add the stated number of drops to the sample well on the cassette.
- Wait for the time given in the instructions and read the result within the stated window; any line in a test region counts as positive.
- Dispose of the used test as directed in the instructions.
Frequently asked questions
What does a positive result mean?
Viral antigen was detected for Covid-19 and/or flu A or B. Self-isolate as current guidance advises and seek advice from a healthcare professional, especially if you are in an at-risk group.
Does a negative result mean I definitely do not have Covid or flu?
No. Negative results do not rule out infection. If you still have symptoms, consider testing again a day or two later or seek advice from a healthcare professional.
Can it tell the difference between Covid-19, flu A and flu B?
Yes. The cassette has separate test regions for SARS-CoV-2, influenza A and influenza B, so one swab gives three results.
Can I use it on children?
The instructions describe an adult swabbing a child; an adult should collect the sample and read the result. Ask our pharmacist if you are unsure about testing a young child.
Is the swab a deep nasopharyngeal swab?
No. It is a gentle anterior nasal swab inserted about 2cm, until you feel slight resistance. Do not push further if it hurts.
Safety and storage

- Do not use if the pouch is damaged or the kit has expired.
- Keep the buffer solution away from skin and eyes and do not swallow it; rinse with water if contact occurs.

This is an in vitro diagnostic self-test. Always follow the instructions supplied with the product. A negative result does not rule out infection; if you are unwell, seek advice from a pharmacist or doctor.
