Clarinaze Allergy Control 0.05% Nasal Spray contains the corticosteroid mometasone furoate and is used by adults to treat the symptoms of seasonal or perennial allergic rhinitis, such as hay fever and year-round allergies to pets, mould and dust. Sold by Ways Pharmacy (UK).

Who it is for

Adults aged 18 and over with hay fever symptoms such as sneezing, itching, and a blocked or runny nose.
Adults with year-round (perennial) allergic rhinitis triggered by pets, house dust or mould.
People who want a once-daily nasal treatment rather than a tablet.

Not suitable for: Anyone allergic to mometasone furoate or to any of the other ingredients; anyone with an untreated infection in the nose, such as herpes simplex; anyone who has recently had nasal surgery or an injury to the nose; children and young people under 18 years. Speak to a doctor first if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, if you have tuberculosis or any untreated infection, or if you take medicines that affect the immune system.

How to use

Read the label and Patient Information Leaflet (PIL) before use.
Shake the bottle gently. Before the first use, prime the pump by spraying 10 times until an even mist appears.
If you have not used the spray for 14 days or longer, prime it again with 2 sprays before your next dose.
Adults 18 and over: spray twice into each nostril once a day. Do not use more than 4 sprays in a day.
Once your symptoms have improved, try reducing to one spray into each nostril once a day.
Do not pierce the nasal applicator. See a doctor if symptoms have not improved after 14 days, and do not use continuously for more than 3 months without medical advice.

Is it a steroid?

Yes. Mometasone furoate is a corticosteroid. It works in the lining of the nose to reduce the inflammation that causes allergy symptoms.

Can I use it in pregnancy or while breastfeeding?

Speak to a doctor first. It should not be used in pregnancy unless a doctor decides the benefit justifies the risk, and the decision about breastfeeding should be made with a doctor.

How long does the bottle last once opened?

Use it within 2 months of first use. Do not store above 25°C and do not freeze.

Safety and storage

Nosebleeds are common, as are headache, throat irritation and burning or irritation inside the nose.
Contact a doctor if you get blurred vision or other eye problems, or if you develop a sore, white patch inside the nose.
Contains benzalkonium chloride, which may cause irritation of the lining of the nose, particularly with long-term use.
Do not store above 25°C. Do not freeze. Use within 2 months of first use.
Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
