Frequently asked questions
How does Movicol-Half work?
It contains macrogol 3350, which draws water into the bowel to soften the stool and help it move. The added salts help keep the body's salt and water balance steady.
How long does Movicol-Half take to work?
Macrogol laxatives usually work within 1 to 3 days. They act gradually rather than giving instant relief, so allow a few days of regular use.
How long can I take Movicol-Half?
For ordinary constipation it is usually used for up to 2 weeks. Longer-term use for chronic constipation should be guided by a doctor or pharmacist.
Can I take Movicol-Half in pregnancy?
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, speak to your pharmacist or doctor before use so they can advise whether it is suitable for you.
What is the difference between Movicol and Movicol-Half?
Movicol-Half contains a smaller (half) amount of macrogol per sachet than standard Movicol, so the dose is adjusted accordingly. Follow the instructions for the product you have.
