咳嗽、感冒和流感
(91)Cough, cold and flu remedies for the relief of blocked noses, sore throats, coughs and feverish cold symptoms. Ways Pharmacy, a GPhC-registered pharmacy in Holborn, London, stocks close to 100 lines across the familiar British brands — Lemsip, Benylin, Sudafed, Strepsils — alongside Nin Jiom Pei Pa Koa, the traditional loquat and honey syrup that many of our Chinese customers come in for.
Choose by symptom. For all-over cold and flu symptoms there are Lemsip Max capsules and lemon sachets, Lemsip Max Day & Night and Cold and Flu Nurse All-In-One capsules. Chesty and mucus coughs point to Benylin's syrup range, including a non-drowsy option; tickly, sore throats to Strepsils and Strefen lozenges. For a blocked nose there is Sudafed nasal spray, while Sudafed decongestant tablets contain pseudoephedrine, a pharmacy medicine supplied after pharmacist consultation. Check the active ingredients before combining remedies — many all-in-one products already contain paracetamol. Unsure which suits you? Ask our pharmacist in store or call 020 8106 7084.
Frequently asked questions
What can I take for a blocked nose without a prescription?
Decongestant nasal sprays such as Sudafed Blocked Nose spray are available without prescription for short-term use — do not use them for more than about seven days in a row. Sudafed decongestant tablets contain pseudoephedrine, which is a pharmacy (P) medicine, so they are supplied after pharmacist consultation. Our pharmacist will check they are suitable for you, particularly if you have high blood pressure or take other medicines.
Do you stock Nin Jiom Pei Pa Koa in London?
Yes. We stock Nin Jiom Pei Pa Koa in the 150ml bottle — the traditional syrup made with natural loquat and honey extract. You will find it in store at 77 Southampton Row, Holborn, alongside the British cough and cold brands.
When should I see a GP about cold or flu symptoms?
See a GP if symptoms last more than three weeks, if you are short of breath or have chest pain, if a fever is very high or not settling, or if the person affected is very young, elderly, pregnant or has a long-term condition. For everyday coughs and colds, our pharmacist can usually recommend something suitable on the spot.
