Feminax Express is an over-the-counter non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) painkiller containing ibuprofen lysine 342mg per tablet (equivalent to ibuprofen 200mg), used for the fast relief of period pain and related cramps and aches, supplied in a pack of 16 by Ways Pharmacy (UK).

Not suitable for: children under 12; anyone who is pregnant; anyone with a current or past stomach ulcer, perforation or bleeding; and anyone allergic to ibuprofen, aspirin or other NSAIDs, or already taking another NSAID or aspirin above 75mg a day. Speak to your pharmacist or doctor first if you have asthma, diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, or heart, liver, kidney or bowel problems, or if you smoke.

How to use

1. Read the patient information leaflet inside the pack before you start.
2. Adults, the elderly and children over 12: swallow 1 or 2 tablets with water. Do not chew.
3. Then take 1 or 2 tablets every 4 hours as needed, leaving at least 4 hours between doses.
4. Do not take more than 6 tablets in any 24-hour period.
5. Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest time. Do not take for more than 10 days; if symptoms persist or worsen, consult your doctor.

Is Feminax Express just ibuprofen?

Yes. Each tablet contains ibuprofen in the form of ibuprofen lysine 342mg, which is equivalent to 200mg of standard ibuprofen. The lysine form is designed to be absorbed quickly for faster relief.

Can I take Feminax Express with paracetamol?

Yes. Ibuprofen and paracetamol can be taken together or alternated, as they work in different ways, provided you stay within the maximum daily dose of each. Do not take any other ibuprofen or NSAID product at the same time.

Is Feminax Express safe in pregnancy?

No. It should not be taken if you are pregnant, and ibuprofen is particularly avoided in the last three months of pregnancy. If you are pregnant, trying to conceive or breastfeeding, ask your pharmacist for a suitable alternative such as paracetamol.

Safety & storage

• Take with or after food if you have a sensitive stomach, and use the lowest effective dose for the shortest time.
• Do not take with other NSAIDs, including aspirin above 75mg a day or other ibuprofen products.
• Stop and seek urgent medical help if you have signs of stomach bleeding (black stools or vomiting blood), severe stomach pain, or a severe allergic reaction.
• Do not take for more than 10 days without medical advice, and do not exceed the stated dose.
• Store below 25 degrees Celsius in the original packaging, and keep out of the sight and reach of children.
