Frequently asked questions
How many ibuprofen 200mg can I take a day?
For self-treatment, adults and children aged 12 and over can take 1 to 2 caplets up to 3 times a day, leaving at least 4 hours between doses, up to a maximum of 6 caplets (1200mg) in 24 hours. Always check the leaflet for your pack.
Can I take ibuprofen with paracetamol?
Yes. Ibuprofen and paracetamol can be taken together or alternated, because they work in different ways, as long as you stay within the maximum daily dose of each. Do not take more than one ibuprofen or NSAID product at the same time.
Should I take ibuprofen with food?
Yes, it is best to take ibuprofen with or just after food or a drink of milk. This helps reduce the chance of stomach upset, which is the most common side effect of NSAIDs.
Is ibuprofen safe in pregnancy?
Ibuprofen should not be used in the last three months of pregnancy and is generally avoided earlier in pregnancy unless a doctor advises it. If you are pregnant, trying to conceive or breastfeeding, ask your pharmacist or doctor for a suitable alternative such as paracetamol.
Safety & storage
