Who it is for
- Households and workplaces stocking a first-aid kit for minor wound cleaning

- Parents managing minor cuts, grazes and stings on children
- People with mild nasal congestion or post-surgical nasal care, where a saline rinse is recommended
- Carers performing routine wound dressing changes at home
Not suitable for: intravenous or intramuscular injection, deep penetrating wounds where professional assessment is required, or as a contact lens storage / cleaning solution. Do not reuse a pod once opened.
How to use
- Wash your hands. Check the pod is sealed and within its expiry date.
- Hold the pod upright. Twist off the top in one motion to break the seal.
- For a wound or burn: hold the pod 2–3 cm above the area, squeeze gently, and let the saline run over the surface to flush out dirt and debris.
- For an eye flush: tilt the head sideways with the affected eye downward. Invert the pod, squeeze gently, and let the saline run from the inner corner outwards. Blink throughout.
- For nasal irrigation: invert the pod over the nostril with the head tilted forward; squeeze gently and breathe through the mouth.
- Pat the area dry with a clean dressing if needed. Dispose of the used pod — do not save the remainder.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use IRRRIPOD to flush my eye?
Yes. The solution is sterile isotonic saline, the same concentration as natural tears, so it can be used to rinse out grit, dust, eyelashes or minor chemical splashes from the eye. For chemical splashes, flush continuously for at least 10 to 15 minutes and seek urgent medical advice.
Is it safe to use on a child's grazed knee?
Yes. Sterile 0.9% saline is the recommended first-line irrigation fluid for minor wounds in adults and children of any age. Flush the wound thoroughly, pat dry, and cover with a sterile dressing.
Can I use IRRRIPOD as a contact lens solution?
No. Sterile saline can be used as a one-off emergency eye flush, but it does not disinfect contact lenses and is not licensed for lens storage. Use the dedicated solution recommended by your optometrist for routine lens care.
Why is it preservative-free?
Each pod is single-use, so no preservatives are needed. This makes it suitable for sensitive eyes, broken skin and use on infants where preservatives such as benzalkonium chloride would be undesirable.
How is it different from a saline-soaked gauze?
IRRRIPOD provides direct, gentle irrigation under controlled pressure to physically wash debris out of a wound — gauze can only blot. For wounds with visible dirt, irrigation is the cleaning method recommended by NHS first-aid guidance.
How long do the pods keep once opened?
Each pod is single-use. Once opened, any unused solution should be discarded — do not save it for later use.
Safety & storage
- External use only. Do not inject or infuse.
- Discard any pod that is leaking, swollen, cloudy, or past its printed expiry date.
- Seek urgent medical attention for: chemical splashes to the eye, deep or heavily contaminated wounds, persistent eye pain or visual change after rinsing.
- Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight, out of reach of children.
