What is Benacort 64 Micrograms Nasal Spray?
Benacort 64 Micrograms Nasal Spray is a nasal spray that works to reduce inflammation that is caused by the effects of hay fever and other allergies. The active ingredient in this nasal spray is budesonide, which belongs to a group of medicines called corticosteroids. Corticosteroids work by reducing the levels of inflammation in the nose. This treats a blocked, runny, or stuffy nose.



What causes symptoms of hay fever in the nose?
Symptoms of hay fever are caused by pollen which causes hay fever because the body thinks that the pollen is the threat to the body. The body then produces histamines which work to fight the pollen. As a result, the symptoms of hay fever appear, which includes nasal symptoms.



Who is this nasal spray suitable for?
Benacort should only be used by adults aged 18 and over. It should not be used by anyone who is allergic to the ingredients contained in the nasal spray. You should speak to a doctor or pharmacist before using if any of the following applies to you:

Have an infection in the nose or sinuses
Recently had a nose ulcer, nose surgery, or an injury that has not fully healed
Get frequent and/or heavy nose bleeds
Have tuberculosis, a chest infection, chicken pox, or measles, or have been in contact with someone who has
Have ever had glaucoma or cataracts
Have an eye infection
Are diabetic
Have liver problems
Taking any other form of corticosteroid medication
