Directions:

Dosage Schedule:

• Days 1–3: 0.5 mg once daily
• Days 4–7: 0.5 mg twice daily
• Day 8 onward: 1 mg twice daily (continue for remainder of 12-week course)

Administration:

Take tablets whole with water at the same times each day, preferably after food.

Course Duration:

12 weeks (with an optional second 12-week maintenance course if advised by your pharmacist)

Supply Format:

Initial supply: 2 weeks

Follow-up supplies: 4 weeks (x2) + final 2-week course

Important:

You must set a quit date between days 8–14 of starting Varenicline. Abstain completely from smoking by this date.

Can Varenicline be taken with other medications?

You should not take Varenicline with:

Precautions:

Do not use if:

• You have a history of psychiatric illness (including suicidal thoughts)
• You have severe kidney impairment (eGFR < 30ml/min)

• You are allergic to Varenicline or any of its ingredients

Possible Side Effects:

• Headache
• Dry mouth

Less Common:

• Mood changes, irritability, or depression

Rare but serious:
