How to use clove oil for toothache
chevron-down
If you have toothache, it’s best to book in at your local dentist to get it checked out - but if you need a temporary fix for that nagging pain, clove oil is a great solution. Clove oil works by numbing the nerve tissue due to its natural anaesthetic properties. Care must be taken when applying, for example, do not pour the clove oil directly onto the affected area; if it reaches your gums or tongue, it could worsen the pain. Use a cotton ball to soak up the clove oil and hold it against the affected area for 20 minutes. If you don’t have clove oil available, you can use powdered clove or try chewing a whole clove with the affected tooth; oil from the clove should be released to soothe the pain.
