Cetraxal® is a prescription-only antibiotic ear drop used to treat bacterial infections of the outer ear canal, commonly known as otitis externa. It contains ciprofloxacin, a broad-spectrum antibiotic from the fluoroquinolone family that works by stopping the growth of bacteria.

This treatment is typically used when ear infections cause pain, swelling, discharge, and hearing discomfort, and is ideal for patients seeking fast and targeted relief.

Ciprofloxacin Hydrochloride 2mg/ml (equivalent to 2mg ciprofloxacin per ml)

Who Is It For?

Suitable for adults and children aged 1 year and above diagnosed with:

• Bacterial outer ear infections (otitis externa)
• Bacterial middle ear infections (in patients with ear tubes)

Not suitable if you:

• Have a perforated eardrum (unless instructed by a doctor)
• Are allergic to ciprofloxacin or any other quinolone antibiotics
• Are pregnant or breastfeeding (consult a healthcare provider before use)

Directions for Use:

Dosage: Usually 4–6 drops in the affected ear(s) twice daily, or as directed

Duration: 7 days is typical; complete the course unless told otherwise

Application:

• Warm the bottle in your hands for a few minutes
• Lie on your side with the affected ear up
• Instil the prescribed number of drops
• Remain in position for at least 5 minutes
• Repeat on the other ear if required

🚫 Do not insert any applicators or cotton swabs into the ear unless advised by a healthcare provider.

Important Warnings & Precautions:

• Do not use in the eye, nose, or on broken skin
• Avoid water entering the ear during treatment
• Store at room temperature (below 25°C)
• Keep out of reach of children
• Do not use past the expiry date
• Discard 28 days after opening

Possible Side Effects:

Most patients tolerate Cetraxal well. However, you may experience:

• Mild ear discomfort or itching
• Temporary ear pain or tingling
• Unpleasant taste (if it drains to the throat)
• Rare: allergic reaction, dizziness, skin rash

Stop use and seek immediate help if signs of an allergic reaction occur (swelling, hives, difficulty breathing).
